-Test website – fro class project

We (Klaviyo Bikes) aim to make our website https://www.klaviyo.org accessible in line with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the BFSG (BFSGV). Our goal is to enable simple, understandable, and independent use for all users, especially people with disabilities.

This statement describes the current level of accessibility, measures already implemented, known barriers, and how to contact us or file a complaint.

Scope

This statement applies to the content provided at https://www.klaviyo.org.

Services Provided

On this website we provide information and sales of bicycles, e-bikes, and accessories, plus service offerings (e.g., inspection, repair, test rides) and information about events and routes. A blog/news area and FAQs are planned.

Compliance Status

Our website is largely accessible and oriented towards EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Because the project is still under development, full accessibility cannot yet be guaranteed in all areas.

Measures/techniques in use include:

  • Semantic HTML, labeled form fields, ARIA attributes
  • Sufficient color contrast and scalable font sizes
  • Keyboard operability of key navigation elements
  • Alt text for meaningful images
  • Responsive design for various devices

Measures Implemented (selection)

  • Clearly legible typography and minimum contrasts per WCAG
  • Navigation via keyboard and mouse/touch
  • Alternative text for product images (where meaningful)
  • Plain language for key notices (e.g., checkout)
  • “Best-effort” compatibility with common screen readers
  • Adaptable layout (zoom/responsive)

Content That Is Not Yet Fully Accessible

We are aware of the following issues and are working to resolve them progressively:

  • Some alt text and form labels are missing or inconsistent.
  • At high zoom levels, overlaps can occur in isolated cases.
  • The keyboard focus is not consistently visible in all dialogs.
  • PDFs/documents are not yet fully prepared in an accessible format.
  • Some videos lack captions, audio description, or transcripts.
  • Contrasts in certain social media graphics do not always meet WCAG.
  • Status messages (e.g., “added to cart”) are not always programmatically announced.

If you encounter barriers, please let us know (see Contact) so we can adjust priorities.

How This Statement Was Created

This statement was prepared as part of a self-assessment (heuristics per WCAG 2.2 AA, spot checks with screen reader/keyboard navigation) for an academic project. No external certification is currently available.

Test Methods (short version)

Evaluation follows the four WCAG principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (EN 301 549). Tests were conducted on current versions of common browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
